The SAS European Jeep appeared when the War moved to Europe

They would be fighting a different type of war. No longer would they need to worry about weight, as they weren’t going miles behind enemy lines through the desert any more.

The Jerry cans were now replaced by two permanent 30 gallon self-sealing fuel tanks one each side behind the driver and gunner, also an additional fuel tank fitted under the gunners seat. The dash had two fuel gauge’s one for each side. The Jeeps were now fitted with an armoured 2” thick windscreen for the driver (which could be folded down) and one for the gunner, whose shield was fitted with a twin mount for the Vickers K guns. The vehicles were fitted with an armoured below the screens. The European SAS Jeeps were also fitted with rear armoured plates to protect the fuel tanks, driver and gunner, from enemy fire from the rear.

The European SAS Jeep still retained the SAS trademark cut outs on the front grill. There were variations of this European Jeep as can be seen from the pictures.
